Lunch at Cafe Prague

I dragged CK out for lunch with a craving for the goulash at Cafe Prague and with remarkable predictability, ordered something completely different. She did get the tomato soup that for some reason I get cravings for but always find it to be too sweet for my liking. This is served in a big bowl with croutons and also comes with a baguette. I’d like to point out that CK took this lovely photo since the light was bad from my side of the table…

I ordered the Steak Sandwich, which had generous amounts of spicy brown mustard, and crunchy greens inside of a crusty baguette which had the perfect amount of heft to keep hold of the sandwich while taking bites out of the meat.

I got a cup of their delicious light and savory pea soup, which was topped with perfectly crunchy croutons. I liked this soup very much, it had enough body but wasn’t thick or pasty like pea soup can often be. It’s funny because their idea of a cup of soup is what passes for a bowl in most restaurants! I guess you get used to being served soup in teacups after a while.

so, for me, I’m never ordering the tomato soup. And next time I really have to try the goulash and dumplings! Someone always orders it and I say to myself that I am going to order that next time… One other thing, every time I eat here, I experience noise problems. This time we were sitting next to the espresso machine that was alternating with loud machine whirs, steaming sounds, squawks and honks which made conversation challenging as we had to wait for the breaks between preparing hot beverages. But I keep coming back…
