Yes really, and it can be made at home, using some items from a can, but thankfully not just the red and white one with bold cursive letters… Mr. K and I grew up on Campbell’s Tomato Soup, an item which can even now be found in our pantry, although this recipe is such a stunner that we may never go back.
It is so good with a crunchy piece of bruschetta or grilled cheese sandwich on a cold day. He forwarded me this recipe that he found on the fabulous Once Upon a Chef blog, and then a reminder, and then a nudge that it would probably be really good. It was. I made it over the weekend and wouldn’t change a thing. You can get the recipe here.

It looks really delicious and comforting!
Cheers,

It’s so cold and chilly outside and all I want now is tomato soup and a grilled cheese. Total comfort food and your photo makes me nostalgic!
it is one of the best combos ever!
I’ve always waffled between whether I like tomato soup or I think it’s just a warmed up V8. If I had tomato soup, I’d like it presented the way you did with the cheese and croutons! Mmmm.
Ben, even if it were warmed up V8, it would probably be pretty good with all the fixins! Mr. K made the croutons from leftover ciabatta, and with the fresh basil and parm cheese it was quite a tasty bowl. Great leftovers too.
I haven’t had a bowl of tomato soup in such a long time. I like your photo with all those delicious toppings… will have to give this recipe a try soon.
YUM! Now I know what to do with the hand blender I ordered last year and is still in the box! It definitely doesn’t feel like spring out there but perfect weather for some tomato soup! I’ll probably be adding a good amount of hot sauce to mine though!
This soup has my name all over it!
That looks way better than anything out of a can. Mmm, I can practically taste it with a grilled cheese sammy. Swoon.
did i seriously miss the first day of spring? drat! i love your picture.
