Farley’s East in Oakland reopens grandly

Today is the official grand reopening of Farley’s East who remodeled to include the next door space (formerly Subway) so they now offer more space, and an expanded menu with wine and beer on tap.  Join them today Friday, July 14 from 7-9pm.  There will be door prizes, give-aways, complimentary appetizers and drink specials!

It’s bright and airy with tall ceilings.

There’s a grab & go case and second register to streamline the experience, with a delectable array of healthy options like yogurt parfaits topped with granola, tonics and elixirs from Urban Remedy, along with chips and sodas to round out your meal.

I went for a media preview a couple of weeks ago and got to sample some very delectable bites!

Here is the whole health salad ($11) made with kale, mixed greens, quinoa, garbanzo beans, carrots, pumpkin seeds & tahini dressing.

The cobb salad ($11) is made with organic mixed greens, egg, chopped bacon, tomato, blue cheese, avocado & goddess dressing with some cubed chicken.

Samples of turkey sandwiches on Acme ciabatta, side salads are served with all panini when eaten in the cafe. They use organic & sustainably produced ingredients wherever possible.

They will be serving a hot dish every day, this was a scrumptious Mac and Cheese made with tender Baia pasta (fresh pasta made in Oakland) in a creamy cheesy sauce that had just the right amount of spicy heat.

They have local beers and wines on tap

and wonderful pretzels from Firebrand breads (a local artisanal bakery).  These are called cheese bombs, filled with gruyere and dusted with spices.

Soft pretzels sprinkled with toasted pumpkin seeds and sea salt, which made each bite a little nutty and flavorful.  An excellent snack to go with wine or beer!

Housemade chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with crunchy sea salt, are perfect with a coffee beverage.

Their house coffee and espresso blends are exclusively roasted by De La Paz, a small San Francisco roaster that takes pride in the highest quality product and transparent bean sourcing.

The owners were so gracious and gave me a pound of their house beans and a Farleys coffee cup.  I loved the coffee and my cat Zumi aproves of the cup.

I neglected to take a photo of the case displaying 500 magazines, which is always fun to dig through.  In the 8 years they’ve been in their burgeoning uptown location, they have been involved in the community offerung a space where they feature a non-profit of the month, local art, music and even parades…
