Marine Aquarium

Update: We have populated the tank with live rock and sand and finally moved squishy and swimmie over from the tiny 6 gallon tank. It looks much better with the bright pink BTA tentacles floating around and the clown fish definitely is enjoying swimming around exploring the much larger 50 gallon tank. Here’s a video I took of swimmie soon after he was introduced to squishy[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBLIJ8l0YWs&rel=1]O happy day… Mr. K came home with a brand new aquarium! We painted the interior of the cabinet and we are going to set it up right this time around, like cable management that won’t dangle into the tank…______________________________________________When things were good[slideshow id=216172782120601870&w=400&h=300]For the record…About an hour before we were scheduled to fly to Thailand, we had the worst possible thing happen. A quart of sugar water for the hummingbird feeders was inadvertently poured into the saltwater tank and I went crazy thinking that the fish would immediately go belly up. This occurred at 8:30 pm and the fish stores were all closed and we really didn’t have time to deal with it before we left for the airport. We made frantic calls to a saltwater tank maintenance person and asked him to rendezvous with our cat sitter to come and change out the water. I was a little worried what 3 cups of sugar added to the tank would do…Our cat sitter sent us emails indicating that the tank was not doing well, and we returned to rubble. Nothing survived except for a few stalwart crabs… Mercifully, the tank maintenance fellow must have removed the carcasses and gore.the sump had an evil froth buildup and a bad stench filled the house…In case you were wondering, never pour 3 cups of sugar into your aquarium. We are thankful that the clownfish and bubbletip anemone in the small tank are unaffected.

Rest in Peace

Clark, Big squishy, Mr. Tang, the 4 blueys, Shrimp and all the corals.
